Our commitment
RIOT Studio is committed to making riotcolchester.com — and every website we build for clients — usable by the widest possible audience. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our minimum bar.
What we do
- Semantic HTML and proper heading hierarchy on every page
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements (skip-to-content links included)
- Colour contrast of 4.5:1 or higher for body text, 3:1 for large text
- Alt text on every meaningful image
- Visible focus states that meet WCAG 2.2 focus-appearance criteria
- Form labels properly associated with inputs and clear error messaging
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion— animations disabled when requested - ARIA only where semantic HTML cannot do the job
Known limitations
We're honest about the work in progress. Current known issues we're fixing:
- Some legacy video content lacks captions — being addressed by Q3 2026
- Third-party embeds (Instagram, Stripe checkout) we cannot fully control — we route around them where possible
How we test
We run Lighthouse, axe-core and manual keyboard + screen reader audits (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS / iOS) on every project before launch and quarterly on this site.
