SSL Certificate
The 'padlock' next to a URL — encrypts traffic between visitor and site.
An SSL certificate (now technically TLS) encrypts data sent between a visitor's browser and your website. You'll see it as the padlock icon and the 'https://' prefix in the address bar. Google flags sites without SSL as 'Not Secure' and ranks them lower. All modern hosting providers include free SSL via Let's Encrypt.
