How much does a small business website cost in the UK?
£250–£1,500 for most small business sites, £3,000–£10,000 for ecommerce or custom builds. Anything under £150 is a template with your logo dropped in.

The short version
Price is set by page count, how much content you supply, and whether anything custom needs building. Everything else is packaging.

What actually matters
- • £250–£500: 3–5 pages, your copy, standard layout, mobile-ready. Fine for a trade or a new business.
- • £900–£1,500: 6–15 pages, proper SEO structure, blog, forms, basic copywriting help.
- • £3,000–£10,000: ecommerce, booking systems, integrations, custom functionality.
- • Hosting and care plans run £15–£50/month — budget for it, don't be surprised by it.
- • Copy and photography are the usual hidden costs. Sort them early or pay someone to.

The bit most people get wrong
Cheap sites aren't bad because they're cheap — they're bad when nobody plans the pages, the copy, or what a visitor is supposed to do. A £250 site with a clear offer beats a £5,000 site that says 'welcome to our website'.
/ 04
What to do next
Write down your five most important pages and what you want a visitor to do on each. Get quotes against that list, not against a vague 'I need a website'.

Common questions
Are monthly-payment websites worth it?
Only if you own the domain and can leave. Many £50/month deals mean you never own the site.
Does a cheap site hurt SEO?
No — a slow, thin, badly structured site does. Price isn't the factor, build quality is.
